June 01, 2018
Associates from Price Rite Marketplace presented a donation of $70,272 to representatives of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank from funds raised during the supermarket brand’s annual Check-Out Hunger fundraising campaign.
From November through December 2017, 64 Price Rite stores throughout Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia banded together to collect donations at checkout, raising over $220,000 for food banks across nine states to support the fight against hunger. The supermarket brand has raised over $1.6 million for the Check-Out Hunger initiative since 2002.
An additional donation of $3,000 was recently presented to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank on behalf of Price Rite Marketplace’s Providence, Warwick and Cranston stores for finishing as the three top-fundraising stores across all Price Rite Marketplace locations.
Price Rite Marketplace is a committed member of its local community, and fighting hunger is at the heart of Price Rite’s charitable giving. The supermarket brand fights food insecurity through its support of local food banks, the annual Check-Out Hunger fundraising campaign and partnership with Feed The Children, and contributes approximately $500,000 annually to local food banks and food pantries to benefit local families in need within the communities its stores serves.
