Price Rite Marketplace Donates $40,000 to Hurricane Relief

December 18, 2017
Keasbey, NJ (December 18, 2017) – Price Rite Marketplace, known for its streamlined shopping experience and exceptional prices, today announced it has donated $40,000 to the American Red Cross from funds raised during its Disaster Relief Drive to aid the residents of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and other areas affected by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. The Price Rite Marketplace team presented the donation to representatives of the American Red Cross during a check presentation ceremony held at its New Bedford, MA store.

In addition to its company-wide fundraising campaign to benefit the American Red Cross, Price Rite Marketplace associates and store teams stepped up to contribute additional donations, volunteer hours and resources to support locally-organized hurricane relief efforts in the communities where its stores operate.

Its stores in New Bedford and Fall River, MA have donated over 4,000 plastic Price Rite bags to United New Bedford, a local nonprofit organization that has orchestrated a number of events and assembled care packages to benefit those affected in Puerto Rico. Its founder, Edwin Cartagena, has also organized several trips to Puerto Rico to personally deliver much-needed supplies. During the recent ceremony at its New Bedford store, Price Rite Marketplace donated an additional $500 in gift cards to United New Bedford, which will be used to purchase supplies for additional care packages. In Camden, NJ, Price Rite Marketplace team members worked with its vendor partners to organize an outdoor sale at the store, raising over $3,200 to support relief efforts.

“We are so proud of our Price Rite Marketplace team for stepping up to support those affected by the devastating hurricanes, as they still have a long road to recovery, especially in the hardest hit areas,” said Jim Dorey, President of Price Rite Marketplace. “Price Rite is committed to making a difference in the lives of others, and we knew that we had to do our part to aid in the relief efforts. We would like to thank our dedicated customers and team members for helping make these donations possible.”

Sixty-four Price Rite Marketplace stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland and Virginia collected donations from October 1 through October 14 to support its Disaster Relief Drive.
